Our mission is to provide a programme of social activities and events, peer support and information for Autistic and socially anxious children and young people between the ages of 4-25 years and their families.

The role

ASCape is a small organisation and you will be part of a dedicated team of trustees and staff committed to improving the lives of autistic and socially anxious children and young people in West Dorset.

We are looking for people with the following qualities:

commitment to the organisation and its values

an ability to work effectively as a member of a small team

integrity, strategic vision and good judgement

a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a trustee

good communication skills, tact and diplomacy

Trustees are voluntary, unpaid positions and accountable to the Charity Commission. As a member of the Board of Trustees, you will be expected to attend 4-6 scheduled Board meetings per year (approximately three hours per meeting including preparation time).

Should you also choose to join a committee or working group of the Board, this will involve an additional time commitment.
As a Trustee, your role is to ensure that the organisation complies with charity law, develops and implements an appropriate and effective strategy, and sets and keeps to a suitable budget. With your fellow trustees, you are responsible for appointing key staff and monitoring their performance.
