Who we are
The Community Transport Association (CTA) is a national charity that represents and supports providers of community transport: thousands of local charities and community groups across the UK that all provide transport services that fulfill a social purpose and community benefit.
We want to see communities everywhere creating and sharing their own accessible and inclusive transport solutions
We are for and about accessible and inclusive transport. We achieve this through championing accessible and inclusive transport, connecting people and ideas, by strengthening our members and raising standards. Through all this our aim is to grow a thriving community transport movement across all parts of the UK.
In these extraordinary times, we are looking for a remarkable person who has the passion, motivation and resolve to support the Community Transport Association (CTA) as we respond to the challenges our members face. We are navigating a new landscape, so it’s more important than ever that CTA is supported by a strong Board of Trustees led by a talented Chair who is committed to embracing this challenge.
This position offers a rare opportunity to lead a national charity working in local organisations across the UK as well as engaging with the Government in shaping policy. CTA is already working with over 1000 local organisations making a significant difference to lives of people in communities across the UK. At this pivotal time of change, the next Chair will lead us through a period of transformational growth and improvement. The new Chair will be expected to demonstrate a visible passion and commitment to people and communities facing disadvantage through lack of accessible and sustainable transport. With the confidence and credibility to develop a highly visible public profile with CTA members and other stakeholders, this is an exciting time to be working with an organisation committed to enabling people to enjoy a good quality of life.
The new Chair will bring a strong understanding of the role of the charity board as well as good governance experience and significant strategic leadership. You will serve as an effective ambassador working closely with the CEO and a motivated board. It would also be advantageous to have senior leadership experience within organisations of national reach, and the confidence and credibility to develop a highly visible public profile with CTA members and other stakeholders.
