Who we are

Families Out Loud is a Wiltshire charity working with families challenged by someone else’s drug and alcohol dependency, supporting them to bravely build a better life. We offer clients:

• 1-1 services to suit individual needs

• Specialist counselling/therapeutic support for family groups

• Face-to-face and online group support sessions

• External expertise in 1-1 sessions (where appropriate)

• Bereavement support

• Peer support


The role

We are looking for a trustee with experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Fundraising / income generation
  • Leadership / management
  • Financial management/accounting
  • Admin/ data analysis/research
  • Recruitment & HR
  • Marketing, media & PR
  • IT & Digital
  • Board/committee experience
  • Risk management/governance

As a trustee you will be able to demonstrate at least two of the following skills:

  • Communication skills/relationship building
  • Problem solving
  • Excellent listening and writing skills
  • Team working and collective decision-making
  • Analytical/critical thinking
  • Organisation/admin skills

The successful candidate with possess the following personal attributes:

  • Commitment to the Charity’s Purpose, Vision & Values
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • A willingness to speak your mind
  • Good independent judgement
  • Shows initiative
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality

An understanding of how addiction affects families is advantageous but lived-experience is not essential.
