Who we are
Fitzrovia Youth in Action is Camden’s leading youth action charity. We empower Camden’s young people to create positive change in their community and in their lives.
What we do
We support local disadvantaged young people in developing projects which address the issues they care about, such as community cohesion, healthy living, conflict, drugs, and alcohol. We also work in
partnership with a wide range of local businesses to provide our young people with mentoring and work experience opportunities.
The role
The new Chair will provide inclusive leadership and direction to our Board of Trustees, ensuring that our Trustees fulfill their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The role would also involve working closely with FYA’s CEO and leadership team to achieve the charity’s strategic aims and continue building the relationship between the Board and FYA staff.
The ideal candidate will have prior Board experience or experience in a leadership role or delivering effective governance at a senior level. They should have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to bring people together and lead with sensitivity and diplomacy. We have an active, supportive Board and it is important that our new Chair fosters this collaborative culture as we continue to grow.
In particular, we are interested in hearing from people either living or working in the London Borough of Camden, although this is not an essential requirement.
The Board meets every eight weeks in person and we ask all Trustees to join one subcommittee which meets between Board meetings. All meetings taking place in the evening, lasting between 1.5 and 2 hours with a mix of online and face-to-face at our Warren Street locations.
In addition, our Chair would act as ambassador for the charity at some of our community events, held in Fitzrovia throughout the year.Please note that this is a volunteer role and there is therefore no remuneration.
