Who we are

It is an exciting time for the charity Group B Strep Support, with vital research underway that could change the face of GBS prevention in the UK.

Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is the leading cause of severe infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under 3 months in the UK. On average, every day two babies develop GBS infection and every week one baby will sadly die from their infection, and another will survive with life-changing disability. Most of these infections are preventable.

We are focussed on campaigning for improvements to prevention and treatment of GBS infection in babies, educating health professionals, raising awareness among expectant and new parents, supporting affected families and supporting relevant research.
