We are committed to creating an environment in which people in our communities are aware of cardio-vascular health, what to do in the event of heart attack or cardiac arrest and that anyone experiencing a cardiac arrest has the best chance of survival and good outcome.
Our focus is on raising awareness, high quality training in CPR / Use of defibrillators and raising funds to help build networks of strategically placed public access defibrillators.
The role
Our aim is to develop our board of trustees so that collectively our complimentary skills and experience provide the best leadership.
We are looking for a Volunteer Trustee to join our charity board. Although this is a new role we are looking for a highly motivated, innovative individual who can use their experience to help move the Charity forward.
The successful applicant will be accountable for running the charity with fellow trustees. In addition to shared their shared responsibilities they will also take lead responsibility for Income Generation.
As a charity we raise awareness of cardio-vascular health, facilitate high quality training in Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) use of defibrillators (AED’s) and raise funds to help build networks of strategically placed public access AED’s.
We are committed to improving opportunities for people experiencing cardiac arrest having the best chance of survival and good outcome.
About the role
There is a clearly defined role description for this position that should be read in addition to this summary. Responsibilities include providing advice, seeking out opportunities, preparing bids and other objectives in support of income generation.
The successful candidate will enjoy being a member of a team, sharing responsibly with other Trustees for leading the charity and take lead responsibility for Income Generation. This is an opportunity to shape the Charity and make a real difference.
The duties of all trustees (board members) are to:
- Ensure that Heart Safe Communities UK complies with its governing document (its Articles of Association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations;
- Ensure that Heart Safe Communities UK pursues its objects as defined in its governing document;
- Ensure Heart Safe Communities UK applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects. For example, it;
- Spend money on activities which are included in the charities terms of reference.
- Contribute actively to the board of trustees by giving firm strategic direction to Heart Safe Communities UK;
- Set overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against;
- Agree strategic plans and targets;
- Safeguard the good name and values of Heart Safe Communities UK;
- Ensure the financial stability of Heart Safe Communities UK;
- Manage risk;
And
- In addition to the above statutory duties, use any specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve leading discussions, identifying key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, and evaluating or offering advice on other areas in which the trustee has particular expertise.

We are a UK based charity so you must be permanently based in the UK and be able to commit to the time needed to fulfil the requirements.
Applicants must be over 18 years of age and be able to give a minimum of 6 – 12 days a year.
