Who we are

The Hospice Lottery Partnership is a not-for-profit social enterprise company that raises essential funds for its partner Hospices: Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, Rennie Grove Hospice Care, Michael Sobell Hospice Charity, South Bucks Hospice and the Hospice of St Francis; as well as other associate partners. This enables expert personalised hospice care and support to be available to thousands of patients and their families across the Home Counties every year.

The role

We are looking for an inspiring Chair to help provide leadership and direction to the Board to develop clear strategic plans and operate within good governance. The Chair will establish a strong, supportive relationship with the experienced Chief Executive.

We are looking for an accomplished communicator with strong leadership and strategic skills who has senior executive/non-executive experience. You will be able to constructively question management reports and financial information, as well as having the ability to build good relationships and networks. We are actively encouraging applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your professional experience to a not-for-profit company. The Chair will be fundamental to the evolution and sustainability of HLP. At a time when income is very challenged, this will enable the partner Hospices to continue offering specialist and compassionate Hospice care to thousands of people every year. A full induction will be offered to explain how HLP operates.

This is an unpaid voluntary position and will be appointed for three years with re-appointment (if desired) by Board approval.

The Chair attends the Board and the supporting Finance & General Purposes Committee which both meet quarterly, plus an annual away day. Meetings are usually held at Tring, at the premises of the shareholder partners or on Teams. The current Chair offers several hours per month to HLP outside formal meetings.

Please contact Jo Turner, [email protected], for an initial conversation about the role.
