Who we are
Hospiscare has been supporting people with a life-limiting illness for 40 years. We’ve expanded our area over that time and now cover Exeter, Mid and East Devon. If you’ve been diagnosed with any type of terminal illness, our expert doctors and nurses are here to help. Our services include support at home, a specialist palliative care ward, out-patients clinics, and supportive therapies.
The role
Could you use your professional background in healthcare to help our local hospice make a difference to the people of Devon?
- Unpaid volunteer role, reasonable expenses will be paid
- Hospiscare operates throughout Exeter, Mid and East Devon
- Time commitment: This role requires a time commitment of approximately 7 hours per month
- Length of Appointment: All appointments are for an initial three-year term (renewable up to three times)
Hospiscare has been supporting people in Exeter, Mid and East Devon living with life-limiting illnesses for over 40 years. Our charity’s expert doctors, nurses and therapists support around 2,500 people each year, in some of the hardest times possible.
We are looking for someone who is keen to use their experienceof working in the NHS or other health or care setting and their strategic perspective tosupport our staff team and volunteers. We enable people to have the best possible end-of-life experience, feeling safe and comfortable, and making the most of every day with those close to them.
We are at an exciting point in our 40-year history. We have just launched our new three-year strategy, focusing on developing our care and education, improving our recruitment and retention, ensuring our facilities are fit for the future and driving to increase our income. There are a number of challenges ahead but we are proud to be in a good position and this will be a key role in supporting the Board of Trustees in making decisions for the future direction of the charity. If this is your first trustee role, we would support you with training to ensure you understand the governance and responsibilities that come with this position.
