Who we are

Welcome to Leeds Mind. The aim of our work is to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives.

We have faith and optimism in our clients and so the services we deliver are built around their needs. We support the people of Leeds to discover their own resources to ‘recover’ from periods of poor mental health, and to live life independently with their mental health condition.

​​The Opportunity

Leeds Mind depend on our Board of Trustees who volunteer their time to ensure that we are effectively governed and led in order to meet our mission of better mental health for all. We are looking for a new Chair who will oversee our Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team on a voluntary basis.

We are also interested to hear from you if you would be interested in being a co-Chair and working with us to develop the co-Chair role as part of our Board progression.

​The Chair will hold the Board and Senior Leadership Team to account for Leeds Mind’s mission, vision and strategic plan, ensuring that each Trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the organisation. The Chair will also support the Chief Executive and ensure the Board works closely with the Senior Leadership Team.

​​Essential Skills and Experience:

·Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level – voluntary, public or private sector

·Experience of charity governance and/or working with or as part of a Board of Trustees

·Commitment to excellence with a focus on outcomes and continuous improvement

·Commitment to improving mental health support

·Exhibit strong inter-personal and relationship building abilities

·Excellent communication skills: written and verbal

·Good understanding of charity governance
