About MenWalkTalk Charity:
MenWalkTalk is a registered charity in England which aims to support an improvement of mental health in men of all ages by engaging in a walking group which is proven to be beneficial to their mental and physical wellbeing. The Stigma around Men’s mental health needs to be broken. MenWalkTalk also aims to reduce social isolation for men and provide signposting to specialist support for those who may be experiencing mental health problems. We want to provide volunteer-led walking groups in every county across England and then the UK. Currently our volunteers have mental health awareness training as a minimum and their aims are to discuss mental health within their walking groups, in a caring, supportive, and non-judgemental manner.

Human Resources (HR) Trustee

Role: Human Resources (HR) /Trustee Responsible to: Board of Trustees / Executive Director

Time commitment: Bi-Monthly meetings

Location: Online home based / Littlehampton, West Sussex

 

About the Opportunity:

MenWalkTalk Charity are looking to appoint a new Volunteer Human Resources (HR) Trustee to join the current board of Trustees. The Human Resources (HR) Trustee will maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs. Keeping up to date with legal requirements and making sure correct procedures and records are maintained. MenWalkTalk Trustees currently meet bi-monthly online as the charity is newly developing and will meet frequently if needed. The position of the Trustee is voluntary for a three-year appointment. MenWalkTalk encourages applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds, who will bring their ideas to develop our growing charity. Most importantly we are looking for someone who is passionate about men’s mental health and will subscribe to MenWalkTalk mission, vision and values. The role of Human Resources (HR) Trustee is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses for travel may be claimed.

Human Resources (HR) Trustee for MenWalkTalk Charity: 

In addition to the general responsibilities of a Trustee, duties of the treasurer include the following:

·       A passion for the Mission, Vision and Values of MenWalkTalk Charity

·       To create and manage the Human Resources by providing efficient and effective HR, administrative and logistic support in order to enable the charity to work effectively.

  • Develop, monitor and review HR policies and procedures.
  • Advise on the terms and conditions of employment, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Support the recruitment and induction process including drafting offer letters and contracts of employment.
  • Manage complex employee-related situations, including dispute resolution, disciplinaries, grievances, absences, retirements and redundancy processes.
  • Provide quarterly HR reports.
  • Prepare information for payroll (starters, leavers, sickness, holidays, pay increases etc.) and liaising accordingly.
  • Maintain records for all MenWalkTalk personnel.
  • Ensure all MenWalkTalk policies are up to date and available to all personnel from a central folder.

 

Person specification:In addition to the person specification for a Trustee, the treasurer should have the following qualities:

·       Human Resources professional preferably with chartered CIPD membership.

·       Some experience of working with complexity’s in the charity sector.

·       Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board 

·       A willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis
