Who we are

Mind in Camden is an independent registered charity (No. 292180), established in 1985, and a company limited by guarantee (Reg. No. 1911178). We provide services to over 1000 people with serious mental health needs each year.


We are affiliated with National Mind.


The role

​What does Mind in Camden do?

Mind in Camden is a medium-sized mental health charity that supports over 1,000 people per year of all ages in a variety of services. We have about 35 staff and up to 80 volunteers. We are based in Camden Town, London. Whilst most of our services are based in the local community, others have a much wider reach.

Our income is a mixture of local contracts and trust-funded projects and we also run a unique charity shop. We are committed to working in partnership with many other local organisations, extending our reach so that local people can easily access a wide range of services. We are affiliated to National Mind along with over 100 other local Minds across England and Wales, but we are an independent charity with our own Board of Trustees.

The role involves:

  • Being a member of the trustee body that supports our services
  • Attending six meetings a year – some online and some at our Camden office
  • Taking responsibility for and understanding good governance
  • Taking part in strategic planning and trustee training
  • Supporting the Chair, staff and other trustees
  • Occasional duties like annual awaydays and membership of panels
  • We are looking for committee members who:
  • are committed to promoting a none-medical model of metal health that challenges stereotyping, labelling and discrimination and are supportive of the values (and ethics) of the organisation
  • are constructive about other Trustees’ opinions in discussions, and in response to staff members’ contributions at meetings
  • act reasonably and responsibly when undertaking their duties
  • maintains confidentiality
  • understands the importance and purpose of meetings, and be committed to preparing for them adequately and attending them regularly
  • analyses information and, when necessary, challenges constructively
  • are committed to taking collective decisions and standing by them
  • recognises and respects boundaries between executive and governance functions.
