Who we are
New Adventures is an iconic, ground-breaking British dance-theatre company, famous for telling stories with a unique theatrical twist. Since 1987 Matthew Bourne and his company New Adventures have changed the popularity of dance in Britain, creating works that have altered the public perception of what is possible when it comes to telling stories without words.
The company has created 12 full-length productions and a triple-bill of short works and tours nationally and internationally each year, the award-winning repertoire inspiring and thrilling millions of people worldwide. Perhaps best-known for the now legendary Swan Lake with its corps de ballet of menacing male swans, New Adventures’ intriguing twists on classic stories also include Nutcracker!, Sleeping Beauty and Romeo and Juliet.
New Adventures is a charity and became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation in 2015. We are passionate about diversifying the dance landscape and investing in the future of dance through delivering inclusive projects for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds alongside development opportunities for emerging artists. New Adventures is committed to there being no barriers to our work and delivers a wealth of transformative programmes year-round to those from underrepresented backgrounds who typically struggle to access the arts.
We are currently looking to recruit three new Board members - committed and enthusiastic candidates with an appreciation of our work who share our values and vision. We are proud of the diversity of our Board and are always keen to hear from new voices, those with legal, fiscal, HR and commercial expertise and those with experience as dancers, performers, educators and producers. We are also keen to enhance our expertise in the areas of film and digital production and distribution.
Each board member brings a unique range of skills and experience and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. Previous board experience is not necessary.
