Who we are
We are a small charity working with adults with learning disabilities and situated in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (LBBD), although we also cover four other boroughs namely Havering, Newham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. To date we have fifty-nine registered Partners (our service users) attending our Day Support service at Osborne Square, Dagenham but we have some capacity to increase numbers. We were formed in the late nineties to support adults with learning disabilities & others.
The role
The Osborne Partnership is actively recruiting for new volunteer Board Trustees. We are looking to recruit up to four (4) new Trustees with skills in Operational Management (including safeguarding), Finance, IT, and Marketing & Promotion. Ideally, you will have some considerable experience of working with adults with learning disabilities; however we welcome applications from any specialism in the social care and/ or health sectors. In addition, it would be desirable if you have knowledge around the funding models of social care, particularly independent budgets.
So you may be someone working in middle or senior management levels of social care, the health sector, or even other community based voluntary sector groups. Your background may be in care providing, commissioning, backroom support roles, or indeed as a frontline practitioner. Whatever role it is you perform, you will need to show high levels of care and empathy, be a creative thinker, and commit for up to eight (8) meetings per year (and other ad hoc events), to ensure that as an organisation we are accountable to our Partners, their parents/ guardians/ carers, and regulatory bodies.
The Osborne Partnership is a dynamic and progressive organisation delivering a range of services in a day support centre and we have exciting growth plans for the future. We are financially stable and seeking to grow both our services and income streams to meet the needs of our current Partners and prospective new Partners of the future, as well as investing in wider community-based services serving the needs of disadvantaged communities.
