Two Destination Language

To support our growing ambition, creative output and impact, we are looking to expand our board of trustees. In particular, we are looking for: Someone with experience of a growing organisation expanding its funding sources. As we begin to look beyond core arts funders to support our activities, learning from others' successes and failures will be useful. Useful experience could come from a range of fundraising and finance roles during periods of growth. A person who brings strategic planning skills to the board. We are growing in ambition, creative output and impact. As a small charity working with a close planning horizon has been our historic norm, but we're keen to push this further away to enhance our stability and the confidence with which partners can engage in our work. Experience of strategic and business planning can help support our plans for growth and ensure we achieve our strategic goals. In addition to the above, we are also looking for young person to join our board. All of our trustees are over 30, and this doesn't fully reflect the range of audiences we reach. A younger trustee could bring fresh perspectives, and learn from helping manage an organisation, as well as from formal training.

ShelterBox delivers aid to families devastated by conflict or disaster, giving them safe shelter and the tools to rebuild their community. We believe in a world where no family is left without shelter. Our aim is to ensure that the needs of those who require our support are met promptly and effectively. To do this, we are building partnerships across the sector and within the countries where we work. We’re delighted to have supported over 210,000 people in 2018. But there’s so much more that we want to do to continue our income growth and reach more people. And help them get back on their feet when they have been robbed of their homes and livelihoods. Our ambitious plans to increase reach are matched by our plans to increase our current donor base — and the financial support our donors give us. As part of our regular rotation of Board members, we are seeking one or more additional Trustees with a range of skills to strengthen the Board’s work. Use your experience to help drive and support ShelterBox’s strategic direction and be part of a global team working to ensure that no family goes without shelter after disaster. Trustees are responsible under the governing documents of ShelterBox for the governance of the charity. Management and administration are delegated to the CEO and staff of the organisation. Trustees serve for a period of 3 years and then retire but are eligible for re-election unless they have already served for 9 consecutive years. We’re looking for people who are as passionate and committed as us to helping families rebuild their lives after disaster. In an increasingly complex world, more and more families are in desperate need of emergency shelter. We must do more. We want people to join us in taking on that challenge.
