Who we are
Reset is the UK’s Community Sponsorship Learning Hub. Community Sponsorship is a new way of welcoming refugees in the UK that prioritises the creation of meaningful relationships between refugees and host communities and values the expertise of local residents. We were set up in 2018 to coordinate the growth of the Community Sponsorship movement across the UK in order that it could realise its full, transformative potential. Our mission is to enable as many communities as possible to welcome refugee families.
We are seeking two new trustees to bring new areas of insight and expertise to our Board.
· participate in ~4 board meetings per year, at least half of which are online;
· engage with the refugee policy environment and current shape of the voluntary sector, and contribute to the strategy for the organisation, helping to grow its role and a shaping a new 'market' for community-led welcome in the UK;
· use their own influence, profile and network to promote and support the cause of Community Sponsorship;
· meet with a sponsored family, and the community members who welcomed them, at some point during the year to experience the scheme first hand.
Our key criteria is that you are passionate about applying your experience and skills to growing community-led welcome. Beyond that, we warmly welcome applications from those who have lived experience of Community Sponsorship: whether that be as a refugee, a member of a Community Sponsorship Group, or in a related professional capacity. As a national organisation, we work to ensure we draw on perspectives from the devolved nations and are keen to hear from applicants based in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Becoming a trustee with Reset is a unique opportunity to influence the UK's response to the refugee crisis and to ensure that our country welcomes those seeking safety. This is also an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the work of a small organisation that punches above its weight in growing and sustaining community-led welcome of newcomers in both policy and practice. We offer an induction programme to all new trustees, introducing you to our team, our work and with the opportunity to meet and hear from those directly involved in Community Sponsorship. We offer training opportunities for those new to being a trustee or keen to develop specific governance skills.
