Who we are

At Share Bristol our vision is that everybody shares.

We help get the people of Bristol sharing by providing a Library of Things service, currently operating in Kingswood and Bedminster but with plans to expand.

Sharing helps protect the environment, is great for our mental health and helps foster a sense of community on our high streets.

We’re a small charity, with two very part-time members of staff, and so our Trustees are very hands on and involved – which is the fun bit!

The role

We’re at an exciting time in our journey, as our Kingswood Library of Things is well established, although still needing to attract more members, and we have just opened our second site, in Bedminster. So, we are seeking to enhance our Trustee team to bring in new skills and expertise in the key area we are currently lacking – marketing and communications.

As a Trustee, you will be part of a team leading Share Bristol as we ensure our organisation is as good as it can be, and consider our strategy for the future, whilst listening to our local community, being inclusive, and responding to local demand. We already make a difference in many ways, including reduction in waste, creating more space in homes and giving people better access to things, but could do more!

At the moment our impact is focused around the Kingswood and Bedminster areas, but there are still many people who are not aware of us, or of the potential for Share Bristol to help them in their lives. We would like someone with marketing expertise to help us reach more people, and encourage them to become members, year on year.

We are looking for Trustees who complement our existing skills and experience to make us a fully rounded team of experts who will ensure we are financially sustainable and making an impact in the local community and beyond. Our team is friendly and welcoming, and some are able to give a lot of time, others a lot of expertise. We’re a flexible bunch who meet once a quarter at the moment, but communicate frequently between meetings and see each other informally at the Library of Things, along with our ever-growing team of volunteers.

All are welcome and we are particularly keen to hear from people belonging to groups who are under-represented in the environmental field.
