Who we are
We’re a local charity with a big ambition: to help everyone face death informed, supported and pain free. Providing expert hospice care, we’re there for people in West Sussex and East Surrey when life comes full circle.
We also pioneer standards in end of life care through collaboration, research and training, reaching even more people facing death and bereavement.
To help us achieve our ambitions we need to continue to grow our income, attract and retain the best people and expand our critical services. We will be relocating to a brand-new hospice in 2023 and our transition to the new building will be paramount in ensuring we bring the heart of what we do with us.
No experience of hospice care is required and you do not have to have held a trustee role previously. You will use your skills and experience gained from other sectors or roles, along with energy and enthusiasm, to guide the charity through exciting times. You will secure the governance of the organisation, contribute to our strategic future and act as an ambassador for all aspects of our work.
We are looking for people to join our volunteer Board of Trustees to help lead the way. We believe our staff and volunteers should represent the community we work in and as such we welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds, including disabled candidates, Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) candidates, LGBTQ+ as well as non-binary candidates and those who have experienced mental health problems.
We would particularly welcome experience in clinical/medical roles, but this is not essential. Our Trustees come from a broad range of backgrounds and experience. We offer a tailored induction, the opportunity to learn new skills and the satisfaction that you are helping people in your local community when they need it most.
If you would like to know more, please visit https://www.stch.org.uk/trustee-recruitment/ where you will be able to meet some of our SMT and Trustees, who will share some information about their roles and being a Trustee with St Catherine’s Hospice.
If you would like to apply please contact Peter Nesbitt, emailing [email protected] or by phoning 01293 447 351, 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday (excl. Bank Holidays) for an application pack. Peter would be happy to talk with you if you have any questions about the role.
Our extended closing date for receipt of completed application forms will be Monday 07 February at 12:00 noon.
Applicants must be available to attend our selection day being held on Tuesday 08 March 2022.
This role is subject to Enhanced with Adult Barred DBS check.
