Who we are
Student Hubs has worked with over 25,000 students over the past 15 years. We currently support over 1300 students each year at our network of Hubs in 4 universities, as well as supporting additional students through our short term partnerships through our university projects. Our mission is to mainstream student social action.
The role
We are looking for up to three trustees to join the board of an innovative charity devoted to inspiring young people and influence the Higher Education sector to centre social action as part of the university experience. Being a trustee with Student Hubs is a great way to support the development of a fast moving organisation and develop your own professional skills. You will be working with trustees from a wide range of backgrounds and a team of committed, motivated staff.
We are looking for individuals who share our belief that young people should graduate from university as engaged citizens, and that universities should be providing them with the opportunities and support they need to make this a reality. The ideal candidate(s) will be passionate about empowering young people to achieve their potential and make a difference throughout their lives, regardless of background, and enhancing their experience at university.
We are at a particularly exciting stage of development. Eight years since the launch of our first strategy and theory of change, we’re about to launch our new strategy. Informed by 15 years of delivery and experience working directly with students and community groups, we’ve outlined a new strategic direction focusing on mainstreaming our approach to social action, finding ways to work with as many new partners as possible, and reaching as many students as we can. In this round of recruitment, we’re keen to attract trustees who are energised by our approach and have the ability to help us drive this strategy forward through horizon scanning and connecting us to new networks.
We are also looking for a new chair of the Board who will take over from our current chair, Dr John Kirkland, at the end of his term in April 2024. If you are interested in this role, please outline your interest and suitability in your cover letter.
