Who we are
Sunnyside Rural Trust is a Hertfordshire based charity providing training services to adults and young people with learning disabilities. We are a thriving charity and social enterprise offering training and work experience for 150 vulnerable people. We train people with learning disabilities to acquire skills in a number of rural activities. These include beekeeping, looking after chickens, growing a wide range of plants and produce, landscaping and garden maintenance.
The role
Sunnyside is a charitable trust and currently has a 5 strong Board of Trustees, a Senior Management Team of 6 led by a CEO and COO plus some 50 staff. Short biographies of the current Trustees can be found on our website.
As Sunnyside continues to grow the scope and extent of the services it provides as well as its geographic coverage, we need to expand and diversify the Board of Trustees to manage that future expansion. We are looking for new Trustees who share our vision and who can show commitment to our mission and share our core values.
The investment of a Sunnyside Trustee is as much time and energy as you wish to offer but with a minimum of 4 Board meetings per annum and one or 2 Site Liaison visits each year.
Specific expertise is always welcome, but is desirable rather than essential. Whilst we have access to or already have expertise in most specialist areas within the team, we would welcome Trustees familiar with the Local Government environment (especially Dacorum/Herts/Beds), Adult Education, Café/Shop/Retail operations). We are also keen to diversify our Board to better reflect our trainee and staff diversity profile. To avoid conflicts of interest we cannot accept applications from those related to a Sunnyside service user.
If becoming a Trustee of Sunnyside sounds interesting to you, please contact the Chair of Trustees ([email protected]) for more information or to arrange to meet and visit a Sunnyside site to find out more. Closing Date: 24 November 2023
