Who we are
The Arvon Foundation is a charitable organisation in the United Kingdom that believes in making the transformative power of creative writing available to all. The role
Arvon is the UK’s home of creative writing. Ourprogramme, led by highly acclaimed and diverse writers, spans poetry to playwriting, song to screenplay, fact tofiction, and starting to finishing.
Arvon was founded 56 years ago on a belief in thepower of the imagination and the benefits of creativewriting. If you share our conviction that these benefitsshould be available to everyone then you could be anArvon Trustee. The challenges of our age make Arvon’swork more essential than ever, and you will be joining usduring a period of exciting transformation, as we worktowards creating greater equality of access andopportunity in all our work – and complete an ambitiousproject to redevelop our Northern writing house, LumbBank.
We hope to hear from a diverse range of candidateswho share Arvon’s vision. You do not need to have beena Trustee before. We know that, for so many people inour society, equality has not yet been realised, and westrongly believe that as a Trustee your lived experienceenhances what you bring to a professional setting.
To help Arvon achieve its ambitions we are recruiting upto three new Board members. We are keen to recruitTrustees who will bring fresh insights and perspectives, and we especially welcome applications from those whohave experience as a practising writer or with buildingsexpertise, whether through a heritage, architectural ormaintenance lens.
We believe the Trustee role is a really rewarding oneand is an opportunity to gain or consolidate valuableleadership and governance skills. We offer support andtraining to all Trustees as required, and we hope that youwill consider applying.
