Who we are
The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) provides support to care workers in their time of crisis. Since 2020, we have awarded over 9,000 grants to care workers in financial crisis in total over £5 million.
Our award-winning charity is led and staffed by former care workers and has established a role in the sector as the ‘voice of care workers’. As an advocate for the rights of care workers in the UK, we are often approached by the Department for Health and Social Care and other government departments
The role
This is an exciting time to join the Board as we continue to grow. The Board currently has four members and meets four times a year. Recent vacancies have arisen due to Trustees completing the terms of office on the Board.
We are particularly interested in applications from those who have experience or expertise in industries apart from the care sector and:
• Have experience of fundraising and philanthropy, or
• Are a hands-on senior major donor and/or trust fundraiser or
• Are knowledgeable about marketing and communications and the ability to reach new audiences, with relevant PR and media experience and network
You will be a member of the board and work with the Chair, the CEO and the CWC Team to increase the impact of CWC’s work with current and potential beneficiaries. We are committed to mutual support, participation and personal development for all members of our Board.
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.
We particularly welcome applications from women and people from a black or minority ethnic background and welcome applications from first-time Trustees. We are open to a range of backgrounds, the wider charity sector, healthcare charities, higher education or a commercial background.
About the Care Workers’ Charity
The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) provides support to care workers in their time of crisis. Since 2020, we have awarded over 9,000 grants to care workers in financial crisis in total over £5 million.
Our award-winning charity is led and staffed by former care workers and has established a role in the sector as the ‘voice of care workers’. As an advocate for the rights of care workers in the UK, we are often approached by the Department for Health and Social Care and other government departments to provide evidence to inform their enquiries. We work with universities and other bodies to further knowledge about the social care workforce and drive the agenda of improving funding and working conditions in the sector.
