Who we are

The Pituitary Foundation is the leading UK charity for people affected by conditions of their pituitary gland. From the moment someone is diagnosed with a pituitary condition through treatment and beyond, we’re here providing support, information and a community. We empower people with a pituitary condition and work towards greater awareness and understanding of pituitary disease.

If you want to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by rare health conditions, who face many challenges and barriers every day, this is a fantastic chance to join our passionate team at The Pituitary Foundation.

You will be committed to our values and share our vision that every person affected by a pituitary condition has a timely diagnosis and access to high quality treatment, information and support.  You will be able to think strategically and practically about the challenges and opportunities the organisation may face, whilst also providing leadership, scrutiny and support.

The Board is particularly interested to hear from candidates from under-represented groups including: women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, disabled people and young people.  In addition, we are looking to increase the Board's coverage in the following skills areas:

  • Medical (endocrinology and primary care)
  • Policy and campaigning
  • IT, digital and data
  • PR and media
  • Social enterprise
  • Community engagement.

Strong empathy with the experiences of people affected by challenging health conditions is an essential requirement.  Previous Board experience is not necessary, but an understanding of, or a willingness to train in, the principles of good governance in the charity sector is essential.

The expected time commitment is approximately 2 - 4 hours per month on average, to include taking part in quarterly Board meetings, preparation for meetings, being a member of a sub-committee, and being involved in occasional projects and Board correspondence.

The Board of Trustees currently meets virtually and we are keen to ensure all meetings are as inclusive as possible for everyone.  This is a voluntary role and out of pocket expenses will be provided.
