Who we are
Universities UK is the collective voice of 136 universities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our mission is to create the conditions for UK universities to be the best in the world; maximising their positive impact locally, nationally and globally. Universities UK acts on behalf of universities, represented by their heads of institution.
Universities UK has recently reviewed its governance structures and as a result the Board has approved a new committee structure and the recruitment of an independent member to join the committees. The committees are:
Audit and risk committee
Purpose to guide the Board in its oversight of risk and external audit overseeing the processes related to risk management and internal controls including financial, reputation, compliance and other strategic risks.
Meets 2 times a year: October and March
This committee will have oversight of financial and human resources strategies, strategic investments and significant capital expenditure, data governance and oversight of the preparation of core UUK’s and WHCC’s annual income and expenditure budgets.
Meets 3 times a year: October, March and June
Considers CEO performance and pay and Directors pay.
Meets 1 time a year: late July or early August
We are now looking for a volunteer with significant expertise of charity finance and governance to join these committees to complement the UUK members who sit on them.
This is an unpaid position but reasonable expenses will be covered.
