Who we are
The Trust is uniquely placed to make a difference to the local education landscape. With 15 academies and a SCITT in its education family, based in Hampshire, Portsmouth and West Sussex, the Trust has responsibility for almost 900 employees, educating 5,764 children. We are a single entity that educates its pupils across different school and community-based sites. There is no separation between what is our Trust and each of the academies that make the Trust family.
Good strong governance balanced by good strong management creates opportunities and enhances the success of an organisation.
The University of Chichester Academy Trust has 14 primary schools, 1 secondary school and a SCITT located in Hampshire, West Sussex and Portsmouth, and is seeking individuals to join the Board and help steer the Trust through its final phase of development and growth to c20-30 academies. The Trust aims to add powerful momentum to the progress of its family of academies through a shared aspirational vision and inclusive ethos, where pupil progress and development of outstanding teachers are at the heart of its work. The Trust’s approach is that all schools are different and can take different routes on their journey to excellence.
The Board understands how vital the role of Trustee is, and how rewarding it is too. As a Trustee you can use your skills, knowledge and experience to make a real difference to our children, young people, staff and local communities, whilst developing new skills, knowledge and experience, enjoying healthy and lively debate. The Board seeks applicants with skills in Accounting and Finance, in particular.
Board meetings are held four times a year, two on the University of Chichester’s Bognor Regis campus, one virtual and one located in one of our academies. In addition, some Trustees may sit on either the Finance and Audit Committee or Curriculum and Standards Committee, a sub-committee of the Board, both of which meet four times a year. This may lead to an average commitment of 4 – 8 hours a month.
Please contact Louise Birch, Company Secretary, [email protected] to receive an information guide that will provide you with further details, or to schedule a telephone call with one of our Trustees to learn more about being a Trustee with our Trust.
