The role

Charity Trustee Opportunity – Board Chair

York Road Project is seeking to appoint a new Board Chair in January 2024 due to the current Chair’s term of office coming to an end and welcomes applications for the position.

York Road Project is a charitable incorporated organisation that was established in 2001 to address the issue of Homelessness in the town of Woking in Surrey.

Today the charity provides temporary housing, support and training to over 350 adults per year, helps their integration into society through influencing and educating the public, employs eleven staff and had an annual turnover of over £750,000 in 2022/23.

The Board Chair leads the charity’s work to develop its strategy, the relationship between the Board and the charity’s Chief Executive, represents the charity to key external stakeholders and is also a trustee so plays an important role in enabling the charity to achieve its objectives.

As such the role requires a commitment of about two days per month including four Board meetings per year. The role is unpaid but out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

The charity is at an exciting point in its development, so we are looking for somebody with the passion, knowledge and skills to help it make use of opportunities to fulfil its purpose of defeating homelessness.

Applications will be received until 5:00pm on 17th November. If you would like to receive an application pack, please email [email protected].
