Who we are

We provide free mentoring to young people in secondary schools across Warwickshire.

The role

What are we looking for?

We want to use this selection process to broaden the range of experience and perspectives represented on our Board, to bring new skills and networks and we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and those with lived experience. We embrace inclusivity, diversity and equality and we are committed to building a team with a variety of backgrounds, skills and views.

We are looking for a Trustee to fill skills gaps, and bring new perspectives, ideas, and connections to our work. Like all charities, we have a Board of Trustees who have ultimate legal responsibility for all aspects of the operation and governance of the organisation. In addition to these responsibilities, we are looking to recruit people with specific skills and experience in the following areas:

-Governance and leadership, including charity law and compliance, safeguarding and data protection.

-Experience in fundraising and/or grants and trusts fundraising, including writing funding bids

-Skills, experience, networks, and connections that can add value and ultimately contribute to our charity’s growth and success.

Statutory duties of Trustees

-To ensure that Young Minds Matter complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

-To ensure that Young Minds Matter pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.

-To contribute actively to the board of trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, review policies, goals, and targets and evaluating performance against agreed objectives.

-Making time to attend regular Board Meetings

-Promote and safeguard the values of the charity

What difference will you make?

There is huge demand for our services which we provide free of charge for students. Young people are struggling more than ever, especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown and school closures. All too often they cannot access the support that they need either from their school or from other providers. We want to expand our service as much as possible for these young people, and we need people who can help us achieve this. Trustees play an integral role in the direction of the charity, and dedicated trustees will help us to provide more free mentoring for more students across Warwickshire, in more schools.

YMM provides the opportunity for trustees to be involved in an accessible service that is highly in demand for young people. By being an effective board member for YMM, you will be helping to support young people across Warwickshire to access help that they desperately need but might not otherwise be able to access due to lack of provision in schools.

Ideally, we would like to broaden our catchment across the Midlands and beyond, as we believe no young person should be without support due to financial constraints. We have a very close knit, passionate and supportive team who work together to achieve the vision and values of the charity. Working for YMM is incredibly fulfilling, rewarding, and most importantly, helps young people.

To apply please email Georgie at [email protected] with a CV and covering letter explaining why you’d like to be a Trustee at YMM.
