**Our Mission:** Promoting strong, sustainable, and healthy communities through voluntary action.
**About Us:** Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) is a charity based in Bakewell, serving the Dales since 2002.
**What We Do:** We support the voluntary sector with advice, training, and representation, focusing on disadvantaged and rural communities.
**Our Reach:** Supporting 250 member groups.
The role
Our trustees play a vital role in the management, governance and strategic direction of the organisation, and in supporting out staff team.
The impact you could be part of to the Derbyshire Dales community:
- In the last financial year we gave direct support (advice, training etc..) to 133 Dales organisations and represented the local VCSE sector at 63 different meetings and forums.
- Many of the groups we supported work with the most vulnerable and isolated members of our community.
- Our newsletter currently goes to 434 contacts in the Dales.
- Our Social Prescribing Service provided support to 699 Dales residents in the last financial year. Many of these people are extremely needy and vulnerable.
- We run a Social Connectedness project that supports isolated, lonely and vulnerable people.
- We run a Children and Young People’s project that supports groups doing voluntary youth work and develops new services.
- We administer several grants programmes that benefit the local voluntary sector, including the UKSPF Community Resilience Grants, the Better Derbyshire Dales fund, the Public Health Localities fund, Growing Golden Opportunities, cost of living grants and Living Well.
- We provide a range of affordable services for the local voluntary sector, ranging from photocopying, minute taking and room hire, to examination of accounts, assistance with recruitment of staff and consultancy around business planning.
