Who we are
The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship is small national charity providing friendship and support to former civil servants and their dependents. It runs a number of charitable services including local community groups, befriending schemes and a freephone helpline for advice.
The role
The
Civil Service Retirement Fellowship (CSRF) is a registered charity. that provides charitable services to former civil servants, their partners and also widows and widowers of civil servants.
The CSRF’s service are built around friendship and support and include local community groups, befriending schemes and a freephone helpline that offers advice and guidance on issues relevant to those in retirement.
It
receives no government funding and is supporting by fundraising and donors who sign up to make a regular annual contribution.
The current Board comprises 8 Directors (including the Chair’s role). These are the Chair, Treasurer and Civil Service Champion (a Senior Civil Servant who supports the CSRF within the Civil Service) and 5 Elected Directors that come from within the CSRF community.
The
charity is administered by a Chief
Executive/Company Secretary and a small team of part-time staff (‘Fellowship
Office’) in Greenwich.
The Chair is responsible for leading Board meetings (these take place 4 times a year via Zoom) and chairing national Annual General Meetings (these take place via Zoom once a year). He/She is also an ex-officio member of any Board working groups.
Ideally we are looking for a candidate with the following skills:
- Good
leadership and management skills - A
knowledge of the current Civil Service - Some
understanding of the issues facing those in later life - Some
knowledge of the charity sector - Experience of Committee work
