Who we are
Moor Trees is dedicated to creating and expanding native broadleaf woodlands on Dartmoor, forming a mosaic of restored habitats through natural regeneration of native species, and is helping to improve connectivity of habitats through the planting of trees. We grow our own trees in our two community tree nurseries using locally sourced seed from Dartmoor and surrounding areas.
The role
We are looking for more Trustees to support Moor Trees as we enter another growth phase and develop our next three-year strategy focusing our priorities to 2030. We welcome applicants with a broad range of skills who share our passion for restoring nature on Dartmoor. We are particularly looking for people with skills, knowledge and connections in the fields of:
- Revenue generation – developing commercial income streams
- Marketing and communications including digital marketing

- Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks and access to green finance
- Philanthropy sector (grant-making trusts, foundations and major donors)
- Land ownership and expertise in creating healthy woodland in the UK and uplands including the impact of climate change
Moor Trees’ Board of Trustees (also referred to as the Council of Management) is accountable and responsible for the governance of the charity. The Trustees work closely with the Chair and Chief Executive to ensure the charity fulfils its collective responsibilities. This includes setting an overall strategic direction for the charity and ensuring its effective implementation.
