Who we are

Packed Lunch Productions is a registered charity and social enterprise dedicated to advancing the arts through visual storytelling and fostering human and social capital through creative expression. Our mission is to nurture learning and growth through creation, and we do this by providing platforms for new voices and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth, all while promoting a wider public engagement with storymaking.


The role

The duties of the treasurer include:

  • overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements;
  • ensuring the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs;
  • ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy;
  • preparing and presenting financial reports to the board;
  • ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place;
  • liaising with any paid staff and volunteers about financial matters;
  • advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans;
  • ensuring that the charity has an appropriate investment policy;
  • ensuring that there is no conflict between investments and the aims and objects of the charity;
  • monitoring the organisation’s investment activity, ensuring it is consistent with the organisation’s policies and legal responsibilities;
  • ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, such as the Charity Commission for England and Wales and Companies House;
  • ensuring that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required, and any recommendations are implemented, for example via an independent examination or audit;
  • keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities;
  • contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organisation;
  • making a formal presentation of the accounts at meetings, including annual general meetings, drawing attention to important points in a way that is coherent and easy to understand; and
  • sitting on appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary panels as required.

They should possess the following:

  • Financial qualifications and experience
  • Some experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes
  • The ability to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences
  • Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board
  • A willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis

It is desirable for the treasurer to possess:

  • knowledge of artistic creation and/or education, in line with the charity’s passion for advancing visual storytelling and its mission to nurture learning and growth through creation and
  • wider involvement with the third sector and other networks.
