Who we are

Packed Lunch Productions is a registered charity and social enterprise dedicated to advancing the arts through visual storytelling and fostering human and social capital through creative expression. Our mission is to nurture learning and growth through creation, and we do this by providing platforms for new voices and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth, all while promoting a wider public engagement with storymaking.


The role

The duties of a trustee include:

  • ​ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects as defined in the governing document (Articles of Association), helping to develop and agree a long-term strategy to achieve these;
  • ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document;
  • ensuring the organisation complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations;
  • ensuring that the organisation only uses its resources for its charitable objects, refraining from spending money on activities that are not included in these objects even if the activities are considered worthwhile or charitable;
  • ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets;
  • safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation;
  • ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place;
  • ensuring the financial stability of the organisation;
  • protecting and managing the property of the charity;
  • ensuring the charity’s funds are invested properly; and
  • following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the CEO.

As well as the statutory duties above, each trustee should use their specific skills, knowledge and experience to help the board reach sound decisions. This may involve:

  • reviewing board papers,
  • leading discussions,
  • focusing on key issues,
  • providing advice and guidance on new initiatives and
  • advising on any issues where the trustee has special expertise.

A trustee will possess the following qualities:

  • A commitment to the organisation
  • A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
  • Strategic vision
  • Good, independent judgement.
  • An ability to think creatively.
  • A willingness to speak their mind.
  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
  • An ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

It is desirable for the trustee to possess:

  • knowledge of artistic creation and/or education, in line with the charity’s passion for advancing visual storytelling and its mission to nurture learning and growth through creation and
  • wider involvement with the third sector and other networks.
