Who we are
The principal activity of Southern Africa Resources Centre (SARC) is Bristol Link with Beira (BLB) https://bristolbeiralink.org/. As part of a city-to-city link, we promote networks between organisations in Bristol in UK, and Beira in Mozambique, a Least Developed Country in sub-Saharan Africa. Beira is a coastal port increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather events. BLB facilitates projects to support the people of Beira and inform the people of Bristol, whilst targetting SDG 11 and SDG 17.
The role
A new trustee will complement the skills of our Trustee Board
which currently comprises
·
a finance consultant
·
a Local Authority administrator
·
a marine environment consultant
·
an architect/urban planner
We have two working groups consisting of Trustees and Volunteers.
One group focuses on projects in Beira, and the other on fundraising and marketing
initiatives in Bristol.
Bristol Link with Beira promotes networks in Beira and
Bristol to identify links between ideas and opportunities that bring about
sustainable change for Beira and Bristol. We identify strategic partnerships
for funding to supplement donations and enable local organisations to progress
a people-to-people approach.
Our core values are partnerships, sustainability, equality,
participation, empowerment and accountability.
The original Trustees have now all retired, and two of the current
Trustees are now based principally in Africa. We are looking for new Trustees based
in or near Bristol.
