Who we are
Box Clever is an established, highly regarded and professional theatre company dedicated to the creation of contemporary theatre for young people. We are based at the Blackfriars Theatre & Arts Centre in Boston, Lincolnshire and tour nationally.
Box Clever is a registered company with charitable status, a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England, and a member of the Independent Theatre Council.
The role
We are currently looking for new Trustees to join our board and support our mission to bring exciting theatre to young people. Whether you have been on a board before or this is your first time, if you can bring a passion and commitment to Box Clever’s work that will support us in fulfilling our vision then we’d love to hear from you.
We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with any of the following backgrounds / experiences:
- Education / teaching / working with young people
- Local knowledge of, or connections in, Lincolnshire
- Young people (18+) who are interested in joining a board, perhaps for the first time
- Understanding of the UK cultural landscape
- Financial expertise
Person Specification for a Box Clever Trustee
· An enthusiasm for the work of Box Clever.
· A commitment to Box Clever’s vision.
· A commitment to carry out the duties of a Trustee.
· A desire to share knowledge and experience to support Box Clever’s work.
· A willingness to act as a champion of Box Clever.
· A commitment to Box Clever’s policies and procedures.
Attendance required
As a Trustee, you attendance will be required at the following:
· At full Board meetings (quarterly) or any ‘emergency’ meetings, and also at all Annual General meetings which will normally coincide with Board meetings.
· At Box Clever performances where possible.
· At other key events run by Box Clever, notably promotional events.
· At specific sub-committee meetings as relevant
· To provide advice and support to the Artistic Director, either by telephone or in person, if required.
Box Clever works remotely and as such, our quarterly Trustee meetings and sub-committee meetings all take place online.
