The Essex Neurological Network (ENN) is seeking an inspiring Chairperson to lead its Committee and shape its future. The ENN is seeking a leader to strengthen governance and act as an ambassador to stakeholders and the neuro-community.

Essex Neurological Network is a small organisation that is passionate about supporting local people, their families and carers, who are affected by neurological conditions.


We offer support and signposting to practical advice, whilst also raising public awareness about neurological conditions. We aim to inspire and develop links between service providers, supportive charities and our neuro-community in Essex, for the benefit of those affected by the many neurological conditions.

We are looking for a committed and inspiring Chairperson to lead our Committee, champion our vision, and help shape our future.

About the Role

As the chairperson, you will:

  • Provide leadership to the Committee, ensuring strong governance , strategic planning and financial sustainability,
  • Help raise awareness and understanding about neurological conditions, through our media channels.
  • Act as an ambassador, championing our cause, and building relationships with stake holders, funders and partners.

You will have:

  • A warm, caring personality, be a good role model and have a sense of humour.
  • Passionate leadership and communication skills and an ability to inspire others.
  • Experience of working in the neuroscience community.
  • An awareness of the voluntary sector and current legal issues

The role is a voluntary one and no remuneration will be paid, although it is hoped that expenses will be available in the future. The Chairperson  is appointed with no time limits on the length of service.

You will be able to work in your own time in carrying out this role, but should be available for monthly late-afternoon committee meetings and other occasional meetings, including the AGM and Open meetings. The role is part-time and will require approximately 15 hours per month.
