Who we are
Cotswold Archaeology is one of the five largest suppliers of professional heritage services in the UK, and an educational charity. We were established in 1989 but can trace our roots back to 1958 when an archaeological committee was first established in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
The role
We are looking to recruit new Trustees and are especially keen to hear from people with the following backgrounds:
Corporate Finance. As over 90% of our income is generated through primary trading in the delivery of archaeological services, we are seeking someone with well-developed business acumen and an understanding of trading who can help us maintain the strong financial performance and control that has sustained us through thick and thin.
Digital. We are seeking someone with a background in tech/digital who can advise and guide us as we progress with a programme of digital transformation.
Heritage. An appreciation of how archaeology fits into the broader heritage discipline, and an understanding of the issues facing the wider sector.
Field Archaeology. A proven track record at a senior level.
This is not an exclusive list, however, and candidates with other relevant skills are encouraged to apply. Detailed prior knowledge of archaeology is not necessarily required, although an interest in the past is a must.
It will be an interesting year for CA in 2025. Our current Five Year Strategy expires and by the end of this year the Board will have adopted a new Plan to guide our activities through to 2030.
We are seeking to recruit some new Trustees to strengthen our Board as the Charity moves forward. As a Trustee you will help make important decisions that will impact both on CA and the wider archaeological sector.
