Who we are
EcoCounts has been set up to encourage people to feel able to go green, be more sustainable, be more environmentally friendly and reduce their carbon footprint as they go about their everyday lives, connecting in small groups of like-minded people. For some this is easy and for others harder, but doing it as a group offers not just access to advice and information but also support and encouragement. Right now, we are recording our carbon footprints and other measures of our sustainability.
The role
What will you be doing?
At a time of accelerating climate crisis and widening social inequality, EcoCounts offers a tangible and scalable alternative to abstract awareness-raising. The organisation has strong potential to grow quickly, driven by a clear proposition, measurable impact and increasing demand for positive, accessible climate action.
We are at an early stage of development, with no fundraising staff and limited infrastructure in place. This creates challenge and risk, but also real scope to shape strategy and systems from the ground up. We are seeking a Fundraising Lead Trustee who finds this stage of growth exciting and wants to play a visible role in building a charity with long-term potential.
As Fundraising Lead Trustee, you will:
-
Lead EcoCounts’ fundraising strategy and priorities at Board level
-
Take ownership of fundraising direction and early delivery
-
Identify and pursue viable income streams, including trusts and foundations, partnerships, unrestricted income such as HNWI, crowdfunding or events
-
Establish momentum, focus and realistic fundraising targets
-
Track progress, risks and capacity, reporting back clearly to the Board

-
consistent and good communication on instant messaging channels, emails and other
-
willingness to understand our Carbon Accounts concept
-
a co-operative nature and appreciation for exchange of ideas, flexibility and openness to feedback
-
some Monday evenings free for our in-person meetings
This is not a light-touch trusteeship or a first fundraising role.
Duration
Our trustee positions run for 3 years after which the person may seek re-election
Commitment
4 hours per week
Location
We are only looking for people in the London boroughs of Hackney, Islington, Camden, Haringey and Westminster.
What happens next
We’ll look forward to meeting you soon in person or via video, to go over your profile and give you whatever answers you’d like to have about EcoCounts. Then the way we have found to bring people onboard after a mutually agreeable first meeting is to give the candidate a small task that would benefit us in the area under discussion, giving both parties the chance to see how the other works before either makes a firm commitment.
