Our work aims to foster compassionate, informed citizens. We believe student-centred education is essential for developing positive social participation and for countering prejudice, identity-based divisions, violence and hatred.

Facing History & Ourselves uses the lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to bigotry and hate. We are looking for new trustees to help us as we embark on an exciting plan for growth in schools and communities across the UK.
Person Specification
We are particularly looking for trustees who have skills and experience in secondary education and fundraising or those who have the ability to introduce us to potential funders. We also welcome applications from applicants with experience in academia, finance and charity leadership. Most importantly, we seek candidates who want to help create a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Terms of Appointment
The position of Trustee is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expensesrelated to trustee duties may be reimbursed.Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years, which may be renewed.Trustees are expected to attend four board meetings annually (in-person where possible) and participate in occasional events, working groups, or subcommittees.
