Who we are

Hampstead Wells and Campden Trust (HWCT) is an independent grantmaking charity supporting individuals and organisations within our Area of Benefit in Camden.

We provide funding to local voluntary and community organisations, as well as direct support to individuals experiencing acute financial hardship. Our grants support work addressing mental and physical health, financial insecurity, homelessness, community wellbeing, and related needs.

The role

HWCT has recently agreed its Strategic Plan for 2025–2030 and is entering an important phase of implementation. Our strategy sets out six clear aims, including strengthening organisational resilience, ensuring equitable access to funding, developing more responsive and inclusive grantmaking, and safeguarding and stewarding the Trust’s resources responsibly.

Over the next few years, our Board will be focused on embedding this strategy into our grantmaking approach, including:

  • developing our small grants programme to make it more accessible and better aligned with community needs
  • improving outreach to smaller organisations and underrepresented communities
  • strengthening learning and light-touch impact measurement to inform future decision-making
  • exploring opportunities for more proactive and evidence-based grantmaking
  • ensuring strong governance and responsible financial stewardship

We are seeking a new trustee to join the Board at this exciting point of change and development. This is an opportunity to help shape how HWCT delivers impact across our Area of Benefit, ensuring our resources are used effectively and reach those experiencing the greatest need.

Depending on interest and experience, the trustee may also contribute to specific areas of Board work such as grants, finance, governance, or strategy implementation.

This is a meaningful opportunity to join a committed Board and play a direct role in strengthening local communities through thoughtful and impactful grantmaking.
