Who we are
Re-Cycle is the leading bicycle re-use charity in the UK.
For over 25 years Re-Cycle has been taking bicycles that have been languishing, unwanted all over the UK and put them to good use in Africa. Our aim is to improve mobility, independence, and employment opportunities by providing affordable bikes to people in rural Africa. Since 1997 Re- Cycle has shipped over 150,000 bicycles.
The role
As a Trustee of Re-Cycle, you will play a pivotal role in the development and success of
our charity. We encourage our trustees to actively engage with the organisation, serving
as ambassadors and assisting in its growth. Each Trustee will support a specific area of
responsibility, such as Fundraising, Africa Partners, Monitoring & Evaluation, among others. It
is expected that Trustees will utilise their skills, knowledge, and experience to contribute to
informed decision-making by the board.
We are seeking individuals who are committed to Re-Cycle’s mission, approach, and beneficiaries. Candidates
should have a strong understanding of the developing world, cycling, and environmental sustainability. Motivation
to actively support all aspects of Re-Cycle’s work is essential, along with excellent communication, networking,
and influencing skills. Knowledge of the voluntary sector is advantageous.
