Who we are
Rise:61 is a youth charity set up in 2014 to serve the estate of Bemerton Heath (Salisbury) which is in the top 20% of most deprived wards in England and has the highest child poverty rate across all of Swindon and Wiltshire. Our staff live and work on the estate, supporting over 60 young people a week, providing free after school clubs, trips, mentoring, community events and alternative education provision. Our vision is a better Bemerton for all.
The role
Specifically we are looking for people who have expertise or experience in any of the following areas:
- Finance – we want someone with financial experience who is proficient in Xero who can take over from our Treasurer and oversee our finances at a Board level.
- Co-production – we want to improve our practices around co-production so that young people and our community are at the heart of everything we do
- Income generation/fundraising – opportunities are opening up to further develop our projects that use trading as a key part of their work. Our hope is to create sustainable community focused projects and we are looking for people with experience in this area to develop them further.
- Charity sector – we have trustees who are in leadership roles in the charity sector already. We want to strengthen this further by recruiting someone who may be a leader or a developing leader in the charity sector to equip us to navigate all the governance and strategic questions that arise in the most effective way possible
- Construction and facilities development – we will be building a youth facility on the estate in the coming years and other opportunities are opening up and we need people with expertise in this area who can help us do this well.
The charity is at an exciting point in its development, and after completing our strategy refresh there are a number of significant opportunities open to us in the community which we want to capitalise on.
