Who we are

Our branch of the RSPCA works locally to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals. Funded by public donations and our two charity shops, we respond to local animal welfare issues as well as issues delegated to us by the national RSPCA. We support our local RSPCA inspectors to improve animal welfare and promote responsible pet ownership.

The role

We are seeking a Trustee to hold the Fundraising portfolio at Board level.

This is a strategic governance role focused on oversight of income generation and long-term sustainability, rather than operational fundraising delivery. The post holder will contribute to fundraising strategy, monitor performance and support diversified income development.

There is also the opportunity to Chair the Fundraising Committee, if desired.

Trustee meetings are held monthly and alternate between in-person meetings at our East Finchley or North Finchley shop locations and remote meetings online, providing flexibility while maintaining effective governance engagement.

Trustees share collective responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of the branch. As Fundraising portfolio holder, you will provide focused oversight of fundraising strategy, income sustainability and regulatory compliance.

All trustees must be willing to undertake the legal duties of charity trusteeship and adhere to the RSPCA Code of Conduct. Induction and support will be provided.

Previous trustee experience is not required. Senior strategic-level professional experience is essential.

Backgrounds in fundraising, business development, marketing, finance, commercial leadership or charity governance are particularly relevant.

You will demonstrate sound judgement, strategic capability and a strong commitment to good governance and animal welfare.
