Sector 3 is Stockport’s Local Infrastructure Organisation, supporting more than 1,700 charities, community groups, faith organisations and social enterprises.
We are looking for trustees to steer us into our next growth period.

Who we are

Established in 2019, Sector3 is a registered charity, providing advice, resources and a voice to the Voluntary, Community, Faith-based and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) Sector in Stockport.


Our mission is to foster a thriving third sector in Stockport by developing a supportive network which provides opportunities for growth and shared learning.


All with the aim of fostering resilience and longevity in the sector so that it can continue to do what it does best, support our communities to prosper.


The role

​Our sector is facing significant challenges, from funding pressures and volunteer shortages to growing demand for services.

​An independent survey confirmed that organisations urgently need more help with funding, HR, and sustainability. We’ve listened and are expanding our team, with new investment secured and now, we’re seeking new trustees to join our board and help steer the next phase of our journey.

​As a trustee you will:

– Provide strategic oversight and constructive challenge

– Ensure financial and organisational sustainability

– Champion good governance and sector values

– Act as an ambassador for Sector 3 with partners and funders

– Support the CEO and team in achieving our charitable objectives

Commitment

– Approx. four board meetings per year (mix of online/in person)

– Sub-committee or occasional working group involvement

– Term of 3 years (renewable)

Practicalities

– Voluntary role (reasonable expenses reimbursed)

– In person board/online meetings (accessible and flexible)

– Full induction and ongoing support provided

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. In particular, we are keen to hear from those with experience in:

– HR, workforce planning and wellbeing

– Fundraising and income generation

– Community development and grassroots organising

– Public sector, business or VCFSE leadership

– Diverse communities

-Young Person 18+

We also value lived experience of the challenges faced by Stockport’s communities.
