NatWest Social & Community Capital (S&CC) is a social lender with a clear purpose: to help mission-led organisations across the UK access the finance they need to thrive. We provide flexible, patient capital to community enterprises, charities, and social businesses, especially those often excluded from traditional finance.

The role

Trustees ensure S&CC delivers on its mission, remains legally compliant and maintains financial stability. You don’t need to have been a Trustee before—we welcome people stepping into Board roles for the first time, we value fresh perspectives, and we will support you in the role. As a trustee, your responsibilities will include:

Strategic oversight and governance
Upholding our charitable objectives
Supporting and challenging the executive team
Representing S&CC externally when needed

The following skillsets desirable for the role:

Governance and compliance in charity law, ethical governance and compliance.
Diversity and inclusion initiatives to help us build out an explicit commitment to Board diversity, inclusive recruitment processes and lending decision-making.
Experience from community enterprise, social entrepreneurship, or leadership, and especially those who have experience of social investment.

We are committed to improving diversity in the charity sector and particularly encourage applications from people based outside London and from diverse communities. Those based in or with experience of our core geographies (Scotland and NW Midlands) could bring insights/experience that we greatly benefit from. We’re looking for people who can bring both professional insight and authentic lived experience, especially from the communities we support.
