Who we are
Tamasha Theatre Company is a dedicated home for both emerging and established Global Majority artists. We are powerhouse of new writing, talent development and digital innovation, and produce and invest in stories that celebrate our rich shared histories and cultures. Proudly both artist and audience driven, we’re disrupting, dismantling, and inspiring through bold and imaginative storytelling, providing a place to explore our lived experiences and unique perspectives.
The role
We are looking for someone who is passionate about arts and creativity and who has lived experience (or a significant understanding) of the challenges and opportunities facing Global Majority artists and communities in the UK today. The Chair will be a change-maker and collaborative leader, able to support our Trustees, Artistic Director and Executive Director as we work together to realise our ambitions and raise the profile of our work. The Chair will be a strong and visible advocate for Tamasha, able to negotiate and influence across a range of sectors to support our work.
Strong and effective governance is becoming increasingly important, and trustees are expected to play a more proactive role in supporting organisations. This is prioritised by funders, including Tamasha’s primary funder, Arts Council England. The Chair will lead and advocate for this and will ensure the Board remains engaged, up-to-date and resourceful, to ensure that Tamasha is a well-run and resilient organisation.
The Chair works closely with the Joint CEOs to determine the strategic direction of the company and to support delivery of strategic objectives where needed.
