Who we are

The Farm Animal Sanctuary was established nearly 40 years ago by our founder Jan Taylor. On a wet February morning, Jan visited a livestock market and witnessed the horrors unfolding before her. Sick, malnourished, diseased and deformed animals were being offered up for sale.

To this day, we campaign against animal cruelty with the aim to change both legal and individual perceptions on Farm Animal Welfare.

Our aim is to provide a safe and comfortable home for neglected farm animals.

The role

Do you have a passion for farm animal welfare, an acumen for business and finance, and the determination to drive us forward?

Then you could be our next board member!

Come and join our small, but dedicated team, as we embark on our exciting journey to create a secure future for our charity and the 600 farm animals in our care. The Farm Animal Sanctuary is currently incorporating, and purchasing the farm from where the charity operates.

Meetings are usually 1-2 hours, and via zoom, so you don’t have to live locally. Though you are welcome to visit anytime! Previous trustee experience is not a prerequisite, but we do ask that you be proactive, and involved in admin, fundraising or financial planning. A interest in Farm Animal Welfare would also be beneficial.

If you think you have what it takes, to help us as we embark on our journey, please send us your CV and covering letter.
