Who we are
Makaton is a comprehensive communication programme that combines signs, symbols and speech to support adults and children with a learning or communication difficulty. Makaton supports over 100,000 Users every day as well as a wider network of supporters including parents, carers, educators and professionals. The team is lead by a CEO and leadership team as well as an additional 21 staff and is based in Fleet, Hampshire.
The role
We are seeking three Trustees in the following areas:
- Finance – preferably at a senior level.
- Research – preferably with knowledge of Makaton as a practioner or researcher.
- Digital – preferably with expertise in digital systems including AI.
We like our Trustees to bring independence of judgement, constructive views, ability to supportively challenge, and have the time and desire to devote to understanding the Charity’s operation and attend the required board and committee meetings. We are in an ambitious growth period and seek those who want to come on this journey with us for the benefit of our Users and supporters.
