The role

Advert: Chair for Board of Trustees

Role Title: Chair for Board of Trustees

Key Interactions: The Chair works closely with the Board of Trustees, CEO, Vice Chair and Treasurer.

Time commitment: The Chair normally gives up to 15-20 hours per quarter and is supported by Trustees in officer roles (Vice Chair and Treasurer)

What we’re looking for: We are looking for a Chair to join the Board of Trustees of WHAG, we deliver specialist services to vulnerable women and young parents facing homelessness in Rochdale and people fleeing domestic abuse across the Northwest. We are looking for someone who has a passion for the issues our client group faces, an excellent understanding of governance, financial acumen and experience of strong inclusive leadership. With the rise of public support and awareness of homelessness and domestic abuse, combined with the charity’s strong growth and financial stability, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. If you feel you can make a real difference and shape our strategic direction for the future, this role will be a great fit.

• Board engagement, development and support

Knowledge, skills and experience required

• To have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of the Board of Trustees and be prepared to access information and training to develop this

• To be committed to Nolan’s Seven Principles of Public Life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership

• To be able to operate strategically and to work effectively with the Board of Trustees and CEO to develop the strategic vision for the organisation

• To have leadership skills for both leadership of the Board of Trustees and the organisation

• To have an understanding, knowledge or experience of key areas (domestic abuse and or homelessness, the voluntary sector, Governance, local government and business development) that will support the charity

• To have an understanding and commitment to equality, equity, and inclusion.
