About You & the role: We are looking to appoint a Lay Trustee to Winchester Students’ Unions’ Board. As a Trustee you will
bring your professional expertise, insight, and independent perspective to the governance of
Winchester Student Union. Working alongside our elected student leaders and staff team, you will
help ensure that the Union continues to be well-governed, financially sustainable, and true to its
charitable objectives.
This is a voluntary, non-executive position that carries important responsibilities
for oversight, challenge, and support at Board level. Lay Trustees play a vital role in guiding our
strategy, upholding our values, and enabling us to deliver the best possible experience for our diverse
student membership.
Experience or understanding of the education sector is particularly welcome, though not essential,
and we value candidates who can bring skills from other fields such as finance, governance, HR, law,
business, or community engagement.
We are especially keen to hear from applicants who will add to the diversity of our Board, reflecting
different lived experiences, cultural backgrounds, and ways of thinking. Above all, you will be
collaborative, open, and able to contribute constructively as part of a team of Trustees.
