Who we are

Established in 2021, UFC is a North London-based non-profit dedicated to connecting people with nature to support wellbeing and community belonging. Our journey began with weekly walks for neurodivergent youth and has blossomed into a diverse range of programmes, including:

• Horticultural & Art Therapy: Supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and those experiencing isolation.

• Forest School: Specialised sessions for the over-50s and people with autism.

• Intergenerational Projects

The role

We are a tiny team with a big heart. With a current turnover of approx. £16k–£35k, we are at a pivotal turning point. We are looking for Trustees to be visionary partners who can help us build the foundations for sustainable growth.
What We Are Looking For individuals who can offer insight in one or more of the following areas:
• Governance & Strategy: Guiding our transition to a CIO and managing risk.
• Fundraising & Income Generation: Identifying new streams and connecting us with funders.
• Finance: Oversight of budgets and future charity accounting.
• Communications: Helping us tell our story
• HR & Organisational Development: Supporting our people and safeguarding practices.• Lived Experience: We actively encourage applications from those with lived experience of neurodivergence, mental health challenges, or displacement.

Key Responsibilities
• Attend quarterly board meetings (via Zoom) to steer our strategic direction.
• Ensure Sound Governance: Act as a guardian of our legal and ethical duties.
• Champion the Mission: Act as an ambassador for UFC in your professional networks.
• Collaborate: Work alongside our CEO and and other freelance staff.

Commitment & Terms
We understand that capacity differs—some trustees choose to get more involved in specific projects, while others focus strictly on-board duties.
• Time: Approx. Initially 12–15 hours per year (including 4 meetings and occasional email consultation). We anticipate this will increase as we transition to a CIO to circa 6 days per year
• Term: Initial two-year term (renewable twice).
• Remuneration: This is a voluntary role.
