We create music with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of the people we make music with

OPUS Music delivers music-making in health and social care settings across the East Midlands. We champion the use of music to enhance the health and wellbeing of the people we meet.


We have a brilliant team of experienced Healthcare Musicians delivering programmes in hospitals, care settings, and in the community. Our musicians offer the space to connect, regain autonomy, and experience the power


The role

OPUS Music CIC is recruiting up to three new Board Directors, including a Chair, to help lead and support its mission of integrating music into health and social care.

They are seeking people with strategic leadership and skills in areas such as:

  • Arts and partnerships
  • Health/care sector knowledge
  • Arts policy
  • Financial governance
  • IT or marketing

Direct experience in music or healthcare music is not required.

Role overview

Directors provide strategic leadership and governance, working alongside the Chief Executive. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as ambassadors
  • Contributing expertise and strategy
  • Ensuring compliance
  • Supporting fundraising and partnerships

Expected commitment: ~6 hours per month, including quarterly meetings.
The role is voluntary, with expenses reimbursed.

Chair role (additional duties)

  • Lead board meetings
  • Support and liaise with the Chief Executive
  • Represent the organisation publicly
  • Ensure effective governance and decision-making
